Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: Cardi B and Offset are divorced.
No, it’s not September 15th, 2020, which is the last time that Cardi B filed for divorce from her then husband Offset (after three years of marriage) only to reunite with him a month later. It’s December 11th, 2023, where Cardi B has taken to her Instagram Live to confirm that she and Offset are divorced. And have been “for a minute” now, at that.
“I’ve been single for a minute now,” Cardi said in the Instagram Live clip, “but I have been afraid to like – not afraid, I just don’t know how to tell the world. But I feel like today has been a sign. The last time I got on Live, I kind of wanted to tell you guys, but I didn’t know how to tell you, so I changed my mind. But it has been like this for a minute now. I just took it as a sign.”
Cardi added, “I wanna start 2024, like, fresh, open. I don’t know. I’m curious for a new life, for a new beginning. And yeah, I’m excited.”
The sign to which Cardi alluded may have been a series of deleted tweets where Blueface made allegations that his ex-girlfriend and son’s mother, Chrisean Rock, had been intimate with Offset.
“So you ain’t f–k Cardi husband November 10th at 4am at their house in LA … I’m making this up ?” Blueface said in the now deleted tweet.
Offset replied, “I ain’t never talk or touch that lady. Real talk man you need some help!”
Cardi and Offset unfollowed each other on Instagram last week, which was the catalyst for rumors that the two were in the process of splitting up. Cardi also posted some enigmatic posts during that time period, which further fueled speculation. “You know when you just out grow relationships,” Cardi said in the first post, with the next reading, “I’m tired of protecting peoples feelings…I GOTTA PUT MYSELF FIRST!”
This isn’t the first time Cardi B and Offset’s relationship has been through drama and turmoil.
“I don’t really like talking about love much, but I feel like I have to do it, just because I want people to know a little bit,” Cardi revealed to ELLE in 2020. “There’s always rumors about me and my husband, and I feel like people would rather start rumors because they want me to be heartbroken. They want me to be hurt.”
She added, “I do know that my relationship has a lot of drama and everything. But there’s a lot of love, there’s a lot of passion, there’s a lot of trust, there’s a big friendship. It’s always us against the world.”
Cardi and Offset, who were married in 2017, have two children together — their daughter Kulture Kiari, 5, and son Wave Set, 2.
